Weekend Recap: Warwicks XC Champs, Centurions GP#3 and parkrun roundup

Warwickshire XC Champs:

Joe Read and Emma Donnelly were our top finishers at the Warwickshire XC Champs on Saturday. I’m going to be controversial and say Beacon Hill is way worse an obstacle than the ditch. Both Joe and Emma dealt with Leamington’s infamous course with aplomb though.

Joe finished in a smashing 37:24 for 10th place in the Senior Men’s race.

Emma ran 31:30 for 29th place in the Senior Women’s race.

There were good performances too from Dan Rebeiro in 39:20 for 15th, David Carbutt 43:44 for 36th. Darren John wasn’t happy with his race but finished in 44:44 for 39th. Mark Amyes put up a very creditable 52:07 to finish 110th in the Masters Race.

Brueton parkrun:

Gareth Wainwright continued his strong showings with a 17:05 clocking at Brueton on Saturday with Michael Swann in good shape too getting round in 18:34. Rob Ambrose in 19:01 rounded out the top 3 this week for the men.

Leading by example for the ladies was team captain #KillerKathy Bailey in 22:00. Only 15 seconds shy of her personal best. In 24:13 was Sarah Cattell and Amanda Crees took third in 25:14. Amanda’s 25:14 was a new PB.

Congratulations also go to Jane Quarmby (29:21), Lynsey Drakeley (28:24) and Louise Taylor (28:13). Kerry Whitehill completed her 50th parkrun and joins the red t-shirt club. Congrats ladies!

Basingstoke parkrun:

Steve McDonald (Not the one from Coronation Street) ran 28:45 at Basingstoke parkrun on Saturday.

Brierley Forest parkrun:

Tomoko Jardine ran 37:54 up in Nottinghamshire.

Graves parkrun

Peter Austin clocked 22:12 at Graves. I presume he’s touring the spookily named parkruns. Next week will be Cemetary parkrun followed by Crypt parkrun.
