Weekend Recap: TeePee’s 50k Win, parkrun roundup

Silken Way 50k:

Tim Price, TeePee Mountain Man got his diesel engine chugging away over the Silken Way 50k. He powered through to take the win. Channelling his inner Steve Way on the Silken Way TP took the gold in 3:59:46.

Max Mladenovic took Bronze in 4:09:48 as he warmed up for Comrades. 4:35:53 saw James Taylor (11th) across the line and Kev Boake (18th) ran 4:58:06. Cracking turn out for the Ultra lads.

Brueton parkrun:
Hayley Carruthers ran the fastest time in the UK at parkrun on Saturday as she equalled the Brueton Women’s course record in 16:20. The Midland’s parkrun star is warming up for London.

Trailing in Hayley’s wake was Gareth Wainwright. He was pulled round to a sub-17 as the day’s conditions brought fast times out of many runners. Gareth’s 16:59 saw him ahead of BBC Podcast star Jack Bristow who ran 17:30 and Gary Polhill who PB’s AGAIN. Smashing his best and lowering hsi time to 17:33. That’s 5 in a row for Gary. We need a snazzy name for such a feat.

Kerry Anne Thompson took the gold for K&D Women on Sat. She ran 22:31 to pip evergreen Jane Hunt who finished in 22:59. Keeper of the pennies Jan Hornby took third K&D woman in 26:03.

Congratulations to John Garside on his 250th parkrun.

It was a PB Jamboree as the sun shined on K&D’s runners on Sat. Gary Polhill’s PB Seat now has his back side pretty much glued to the cushion, but joining him this week is the fast improving Ainsley Wainwright who bravely/madly went out in 18 min pace but held on for a 19:01 PB. Sarah Baker improved again to 27:07, Kay Adenipekun can dig into the celebration donuts as he ran 22:49, Paul Winwood shaped up for Manchester Marathon with a PB of 22:40, Jason Pitcher continued his sharp rise with a 21:02. BLIMEY!

Newcastle parkrun:
Amanda Crees found herself in Geordie land. Wor Amanda ran 30:04 surrounded by Magpies.

Torbay Veloparkrun:
David John continued to benefit from high miles on the Devon coastline. His training involving lots of walking the dog. David ran 30:19 and has his eyes on a sub-30 clocking. He’d be quite quick if he had two knees.

Bestwood Village parkrun:
No need for modesty when you’re called Bestwood. What makes their wood so good? We’ll ask Kevin Tomkinson who ran 29:46 or new recruit Alison Giblin who clocked 33:49.

Cannon Hill parkrun:
Johnny Bellman ran 21:04 at Cannon Hill. He’s eyeing up those Swan Pedalo’s for a PB Party on the lake this summer.

Worcester Pitchcroft parkrun:
Steve Armstrong hit up one of the fastest parkrun’s in the country and ran 20:50 in the process.

Wyre Forest parkrun:
Birchfield Harrier’s superfast Richardson siblings took 1st and 2nd at Wyre Forest. In 25:522 Simon Batson followed the sibling speedsters round the Forest. Totally Wyred. To mis-quote The Fall.

Ballincolig parkrun:
K&D’s European Ringer Riina Kuuselo sped round Ireland in 20:21 to finish 2nd woman at Ballincolig, which I can now spell without having to look it up every time. Thanks Riina!

Prospect parkrun:
Two of our brightest prospects The Woolley’s travelled to Reading and ran 22:30 a piece. We assume they finished holding hands. Awwwww. Nick and Jess skipping across the line together.

Fleetwood Promenade parkrun:
Mary Heald just missed out on a sub-20 clocking as she ran 20:09 at Fleetwood Promenade. Someone should open a Mac and Cheese stand there. Call it Fleetwood Mac.
