Weekend Recap: Rocket Rocks as Surrey Ste’s Double

Loughborough Inter Counties XC:
K&D’s Rachel Gifford, representing Warwickshire, impressed again in the final cross country race of the year. The Inter Counties features the countries best cross country runners. Rocket ran a superb race and finished 114th against a national strength field. 🚀

Surrey Half:
Surrey saw a swaddling of Steve and Stephens as the similarly monikered of K&D swamped Surrey. Steve Whatmore just missed breaking 80 mins for the half with a strong 1:20:09 while Stephen Ray ran 1:37:43.

Florette Fradley 10k:
Sammy Edgington’s 1:03:32 took her round the fabulously florid Florette Fradley 10k

Brueton parkrun:
Gary Polhill has been smashing it up like a whirling fizzgig for months now. It was only a matter of time before he coasted under 17 minutes for parkrun, and this weekend was the weekend of choice. Gary took the first finisher token at our home parkrun of Brueton and secured himself a much coveted sub-17 club place. Gary led a trio of K&D men running fast. Nick Woolley ran 17:09 and Habib Farazmand clocked a swift 17:36.

Speaking of super fast times, Kerry Ann Thompson continued to improve at a scary rate. Once again KAT smashed her best at parkrun. Kerry clocked a superb new PB of 20:32. He led round a merry trio of Fiona Blackman, making her podium debut, in 23:36 and Louise Bell, who ran 23:51.

Joining the PB jamboree was Gareth Lloyd who lowered his own PB to a superb 23:50. Janice Lisiecki clocked 25:41 to record a new best for her own PB board.

Cannon Hill parkrun:
Corr blimey, Brian Corr was one of 951 parkrunners at Cannon Hill as he ran 21:44. He was joined by Subhash Agarwalla in 27:57 and Smita Deshpande who coasted under 30 min with a 29:12

Worcester parkrun:
Fresh from moonlighting on the England Athletics Staff team at Warwick Half (thank’s Steve!), Mr. Armstrong ran 22:28 in Worcester. Saucy.

Sandwell Valley parkrun:
Chris Quarmby was over at Sandwell this weekend and ran 38:29 on the undulating course

Sherwood Pines parkrun:
It’s almost too hot for men in tights weather, but Katie Price travelled North anyway. Katie ran 29:40

Stratford-upon-Avon parkrun:
Kev Tomkinson’s 400th (Arbitary!*) parkrun took in Stratford-Upon-Avon’s fast and flat 3 lapped. Kay stole Kev’s thunder by being first K&D home in 23:43. Naughty Kay. Kev took the applause in 26:40. Rob Stewart continued his comeback in 27:58 and Alison Giblin clocked 33:14. Pete Makepeace rounded up the field in 47:59.

Warwick Racecourse parkrun:
Lloyd Barton continued an impressive run of times at Warwick, this week clocking 20:21. Not bad at all considering the jockey they make you carry on your back

Oaklands parkrun:
A week after running 1:11 for the HM, Rob Michaelson-Yeates cruised round Oaklands in 17:18. You can go off some people really quickly it seems…. 😂

East Park parkrun:
Darren John took himself over to the land of YamYams. Finishing 7th in 18:00 on the rolling East Park route

Torbay Velopark parkrun:
Devon correspondent David John ran 30:34 as he continued his comeback from being old, sorry, we mean injured.
