Weekend Recap: Hollywood & Wythall 10k & parkrun roundup.

Hollywood & Wythall 10k

Hollywood & Whythall’s 10k is growing in popularity as 500 runners signed up this year for the 10k. Despite not being on the WRRL calendar there was nevertheless a strong turnout full of familiar faces.

At the front our very own Jane Evans took the ladies title this year. On the start line she said she wanted sub-37. With perfect timing she took the women’s crown with a spot on 36:54. She was only a smidge behind Chairman Darren. Never one for hot

weather this week took its toll. He finished with a headache and a 36:50 time – which was at least an improvement on his 2016 time and 9th place overall. Big Dave Carbutt lowered his PB to 39:35. Congrats!

Full K&D Results:

Darren John – 36:50
Jane Evans – 36:54
Dave Carbutt – 39:35
Andrew Knowles – 28:26
Gary Wickett – 50:38
Rob Stewart – 52:30
Kate Marsh – 55:18

Brueton parkrun:

With several of the usuals missing at the front of the pack it was left to local Louie Boot to take the spoils of a first place finish at Brueton. Darren John tried to chase him down but tired legs left him a little leggy. 2nd place was his highest ever parkrun finish though. Darren ran 17:47. It was a Chairperson 1-2 as Darren was followed by Sir Richard Dixon in 18:35 – Tricky Dicky ran an 80.00% age grading. Swift. Behind them was a consistent Michael Swann who finished in 19:06.

The women’s team were led by Louise Bell in 23:15. Sarah Cattell took second K&D lady with a 24:27 and Siobhan Cotter was third in 24:52. Gail Partridge took run of the day being the only PB on Saturday. Gail lowered her best to 33:51. A seven second improvement.

Arrow Valley parkrun:

A good weekend for David Carbutt started at Arrow Valley in Redditch where he ran 19:49.

Burnham and Highbridge parkrun

28:05 is a particularly good time for Kerry Hobbis as she did Burnham and Highbridge parkrun. Presumably that is two parkruns and you ran 14:03 and 14:02 for each 5k? I think that’s right…
