Happy 500th to the love our life, the wind beneath our wings, the Torvill to our Dean, Brueton parkrun. Responsible for about 75% of our members, playground to the K&D stars, home to the world’s slowest cafe coffee machine. Oh how we love you, let me count the 500 ways. From Charles Morley and his shelter, to Margaret and Luna, to the kids running Sub-17 despite being 3ft tall, to Andy Lucas and the core team’s incredible efforts to cope with ridiculous growth of the event. Oh, how we love you.
K&D took 5 of the Top-10, First Male, First Female, top-3 and we even provided the shelter from the rain. Gareth Wainwright continued his amazing run of sub-17’s with a 16:49, leading a Rob Michaelson-Yeates in 16:54. George de Bolla hung onto their tails to run 17:19.
Jane Evans has 62 First Female token’s in her back pocket over the life of Brueton. More than anyone else, of any gender, has finished first. She collected the 001 token for the 62nd time in 18:41. Not far behind was Flick Sharp in a swift 19:20. Kate Marsh was third in a new PB of 22:27.
Brueton parkrun were 1 person off equalling their record attendance. Darren John did an oopsie and went to Oaklands instead. Sorry Brueton. He ran 18:36, took the first finisher token and ensured his 3 parkruns at Oaklands had been run in 18:34, 18:35 and 18:36. *Shakes Head*
