Warwicks XC Champs: Glory, Glory K&D

I suppose we’d better start with Jane Evans. Gold. Winning the Warwickshire Cross Country Championship. Champion. Superlatives have run out for trying to describe Jane and her continuing awesomeness.

Women’s Team. Silver. Last year we celebrated our greatest ever team achievement with Bronze. So this year they simply ran even faster. With a team missing Flick, Rosie, Emma, Mary, Jess. Making her debut was Izzy Davis. Eyebrows raised as she went out hard with Jane and Rachel but she dug in and held on to a stunning run. Those silver medals will look very jazzy on the mantlepiece.

Chris Sharp. What a man. Up against some of the countries strongest runners he finished 11th overall. A great achievement on its own, but he topped it by being the first 35+ masters athlete and got to take home a the Trophy as Warwickshire Masters Champion. Hero.

Elsewhere there were absolute storming runs from Richard Dixon and Rob Mundy who both took down numerous strong runners. Magic Mundy finished 25th Masters and Dicko finished 27th Masters athlete. For the women Jane, Rachel and Izzy stole the show but it was wonderful to see Nicky Evans run superbly while Karen Ratcliffe made her K&D XC debut. Our women were expertly marshalled by Sammie Edgington who team managed for the women.
