Thank you

Dear All,

I hope you are all fit and well!

Firstly I wanted to say a huge thank you for electing and entrusting me as the new Chair of Knowle & Dorridge Running Club. I am extremely honoured and proud to have been chosen to lead this great club. When I first joined 6 years ago It was with some trepidation that I came along to my first Wednesday night run. I need not have worried though as I was immediately made to feel welcome and have since met and now count as friends so many incredible people.

I am sure you will all join me in thanking Darren John for his tremendous dedication and hard work as club Chair over the last 3 years. The club has gone from strength to strength under his leadership and I am sure that his legacy will see us continue to grow bigger and stronger whilst remaining inclusive to all. Thank you!

Darren leaves a big pair of vaporfly’s to fill but I am very much looking forward to the challenge and have a great team of committee members to work with to ensure that that the club continues to thrive.

I would also like to thank Jan Hornby for all her hard work as club treasurer in keeping the finances in check and welcome Lissy Calvert as our new Club Treasurer. I am sure you will do a great job Lissy.

Huge congratulations to our new Ladies Captain Caroline Edwards with Rosie Marsh standing down from that role. Thank you to Rosie for all your work in leading from the front and instilling a great camaraderie in the team who have produced some incredible results. Caroline is inheriting a fabulous team and will I am sure lead them with distinction.

Thank you Isabel Arthur for all your hard work as Membership Secretary as we welcome back Ann Spencer-Dowdswell into the role. For goodness sake please pay your subs on time when they become due. You don’t want Ann chasing you!

Good luck to Katie Price and Amanda Crees in their joint roles as Run Leader Co-ordinators. I am sure they will do a fabulous job of keeping us organised on the club led runs.

We are living in extraordinary and challenging times but it is great to see all your solo runs, charity runs, virtual challenges and even virtual marathons going on. Keep up the great work and I am sure we will come back even stronger and fitter than before!

I hope it will not be too long before we can see each other again but in the mean time stay safe and well.

Many thanks

Paul.
