Weekend Recap: Priceless York, Debut Heat & PB’s in Rainy Brum

Yorkshire Marathon:

Katie Price made her marathon debut in York. After months of training and in aid of Mind (during #runandtalk week no less) she completed the 26.2 miles for the first time. Joining her were 3 other fine club representatives. Mike McDonald completed his 2nd marathon in a week; going quicker in Yorkshire than he did in Chester. Hile Robert Yates and Hayley Murphy joined in on marathon debuting for the club. Well done and you can now proudly call yourselves marathoners!

Birmingham Half Marathon:

A new route proved for fast times despite horrendous rain and wind in Birmingham as the Birmingham Half Marathon splashed through town. Big news from the event was Newbie Rachel Gifford making her club debut for K&D and running an excellent 1:24:13. Team Captain Rosie Marsh was seen rubbing her hands in glee. Not just to keep warm. Chris Morgan took the honours for the first club man running a superb 1:18:57. Paul Winwood rounded off a week of Big PB’s by going under 1:50 after last week’s 25 min marathon PB. He was joined by a bounty of new PB’s across entrants.

Weekend Recap: Tales of Tissington Trails, Marathon PB Goes Lowe

Tissington Half:

What has now become a yearly pilgrimage and right of passage for many of our club members. Once again our delightful bunch of K&D stalwarts and newbies packed up their prosecco and running shoes and headed off to the wonders of Tissington.

Judging by the team photo you’d assume they’d not be allowed within 100 miles of any civilised town but they were welcomed back to Tissington with open arms.

Sue Wassell took to headlines winning her age group (Women’s 18-24 she told me…). A brilliant victory.

K&D’s very own Ant & Dec got their guns and nobbly knee’s out despite it being Autumn.  Althought someone needs to a) get the hedge trimmers out for Hagrid’s beard and b) show Chef-Richard how to attach his number to his vest (unless Lynsey won’t let him use safety pins without her supervision? Which would make sense… for everyone’s safety).

Well done to everyone who ran. Seeing you going off on your jaunts as a team is a wonderful sight; teamwork makes the dreamwork!

Chester Marathon:

Emma Lowe wasn’t happy with the time she ran when she completed Edinburgh Marathon. So she worked bloody hard all over summer and absolutely smashed 44 minutes off her PB. 44 Minutes!! Her new PB sits at a very shiny 3:41:11. An outstanding time and just reward for the hard work she has put in every single week. Continue reading
