Brueton parkrun:
With out men scattered round Chicago, Chester and Mordor Paul Benley led the team home at Brueton running 19:00 on the nose. He was followed by Danny Malone and Anthony Dutton who both also clocked 19’s… 19:17 and 19:58 to be precises.

For the K&D women it was the now familiar Kerry Ann Thompson who took the honours. Her rapid improvements being consolidated with a superb 22:13. Louise Bell took the #2 spot with 23:11 and none other than Ann Spencer-Dowdeswell celebrated her recent HM pb by finishing third in 25:50.

It was a superb PB for Danny Malone who ran 19:17. Kerry Ann Thompson’s 22:13 equalled her PB from last week. Making it 8 weeks in a row she’s either PB’d or =’d her PB.

Arrow Valley parkrun:
A big congrats to Richard Dixon who took his first ever parkrun #1 tag.  Running 18:31 saw Dicko crowned Arrow Valley King for the week. Behind him Hala Atkin, Kevin Tomkinson and Ian Curtis (not the Joy Division one) made up a K&D Quartet.  Hala ran 25:18, Kevin clocked 25:34 and Ian notched up a 37:26.

Burgess parkrun:
Jack Bristow scorched round the fast and flat Burgess parkrun in 17:10. He finished 2nd overall and continued to nibble away at the 17 min barrier. It’s going to happen! Keep the faith JB!

Bristow was joined at Burgess by the Quarmby’s by chance as Chris ran 28:23 and Jane stopped the clock at 29:31.

Ballincollig parkrun:
We like to drop in with friend of the club Riina Kuuselo who still lists K&D as her club. She scorched round in 19:42. Wonder if she fancies a regular scandi-uk commute for XC still?

Exmouth parkrun:
A late autumn Devon trip for Ainsley Wainwright who clocked 19:44.

Great Birmingham 10k

Live on Channel 5 on Sunday morning The Simplyhealth Great Birmingham 10k took place with its usual fanfare. With a new route does away with that awful hill there was an opportunity (finally!) to be able to run a fast time on the course without the race-ruining hill hitting you in the last mile and adding 45-90 seconds to your time. Except that on Sunday strong winds made running tough going. Doh! Continue reading

Weekend Recap: Read it and Weep, Christmas Crackers, K&P RC

Parkrun Sat 17 Dec 2016

Joe Read and Oliver Paulin (Coventry Godiva) had a good old festive throwdown on Saturday. Both tore up the Brueton park leaving a trail of broken runners behind them. Joe Read very nearly ruined Christmas in the Sharp household as his brilliant battle with Paulin led him to a new PB of 16:10. Equaling the men’s club record currently held by Chris Sharp. Congratulations to Joe on a stunning run. We look forward to the battle of the heavyweights in 2017 when Joe Read and Chris Sharp go head to head over 5k. Box Office.

Behind Joe (way, way, way behind!) were plenty of others on the crisp parkrun morning. Gareth Wainwright was second K&D’er in 17:13 followed by Tim Price in 17:54.

First K&D Lady was Elaine Callinan in a new PB of 23:08. Sarah Cattell wasn’t far behind in 23:56 and in third was Karen Stapley in 26:04. Always great to see new names cropping up on the top-3’s. Well done ladies! Continue reading

Weekend Recap: New Yoik, Centurions GP #1, parkrun

New York Marathon

In the Big Apple, the city that never sleeps, home of Ross, Joey, Chandler, Rachel, Phoebe and Monica, our very own Gareth Wainwright clocked in a sharp 02:52:52 at the New York City Marathon. That grabbed him a top 500 finish; officially coming home in 422nd.

Centurions Grand Prix #1

14909900_1793083630904257_8844235640131075058_nCenturions, our nearest rivals, aren’t all bad. They do have the Centurions GP series to keep us going through winter so we’ll cut them some slack. Race 1 was blisteringly fast, an Irish ringer dropping in while visiting the area on a trip and leading the race home in a stunning 25:34. Ooft.

Richard Dixon was first K&D male runner home in 29:52. Emma Donnelly took that honour for our ladies in 36:53. Congratulations to the ladies that took home three of the prizes available. Emma Donnelly, Jane Hunt and Kathy Bailey all getting the nod in the post-race ceremonies.
