Nicola Ridler’s Race for Life

While we know you’re all excited for Sunday’s Arden 9 we’d like to divert your attention for a moment to appreciate a former (always!) K&D member’s contributions to inspiring others.

Nicola Ridler has been thriving despite being diagnosed with incurable bowel cancer. Nicola has been honorary starter for Cannon Hill Race for Life and will be starting and running Solihull Race for Life on Sunday 16th. We would like to take a moment to congratulate Nicola on her inspirational attitude towards life. She’s well worth a follow on Twitter.

As Chair I first learned of her illness at the finish of Birmingham Marathon. Nicola bounded up to me, as I lay exhausted, and asked all about my race and then eventually, out of the blue, mentioned she had Stage-4 cancer. She then bounded off and ran Birmingham Half as if she didn’t have a worry in the world. A measure of her special nature and positivity towards life.

While Nicola hasn’t been able to run with us for a while we will always think of her as one of our own and would like to continue to offer her all K&D’s support as she inspires thousands to live as full a life as possible.

We would like to wish her all the best on Sunday and thank her for the continued inspiration.
