New Year Recap: parkrun Double Day!

Note: Rescheduled Club Paarlauf is tonight (2/1/18). Please try to arrive at the church at 7:15 to registered an estimated 5k time.

The reason most new years resolutions fail are two-fold. One. People set unrealistic targets. Two. People try to do it alone. Luckily K&D have you covered and K&D team work makes the dream work. This was evident as K&D en masse made it double the fun on the best day of the year: parkrun Double Day!

A big day was always in order as Hayley Carruthers, England Intl. Marathoner and recent Sub-16 parkrunner ran just 4 sec shy of fellow international Katrina Wootton’s course record. While our very own Jane Evans is now 3rd on the all time list it shows just how superb our women’s club 5k record is.

For the K&D men a barcode-less Rob Michaelson-Yeates misses out on a podium place on day one of 2019. His place is taken by David Carbutt in 18:29. Just shy of his (18:21) PB. Behind David, Tim Price clocked a more than solid 18:57 off a slow start and Paul Bentley stopped the clock at 19:08.

Buggy Pushing Wonder Mary Heald sped round to 22:53. Faster than Lewis Hamilton. Jane Hunt clocked a great 23:35. Nicky Evans took the bronze in 24:33 for a top-3 spot.

It was a NYD PB Party for Lynsey Drakeley who ran 27:01.

Kingsbury Water parkrun:

The Official 2019 K&D Double saw a mass of green and gold make the short journey to Kingsbury Water Park. The K&D Mass were led by Dave Carbutt again who made it a January Sales 2 for 1 with 19:16. Darren John made it two sub-20 min parkruns on New Years Day as he continued his comeback from blood clots in the lungs running 19:47 to just pip Pete Makepeace in 19:48 – who actually went quicker in his second parkrun of the day (19:52 to 19:48).

Kate Marsh took numero uno for the K&D women at Kingsbury with a 27:23. Behind her Ann Spencer-Dowdeswell clocked 30:26 and Katie Price was third in 31:11.

Getting results for NYD parkrun’s is always difficult as the consolidated club list on the parkrun site doesn’t update. If we missed your run please post it below on Facebook.
