Tracy Davies rounds up the graduation with a difference for our K&D 0-3 class of 2018:
“For the 1st time since we started our running challenge, parkrun was cancelled due to ice on the course. After turning out in the freezing rain we made a decision for those who wanted to run at there own risk, they would complete the 5k course without an official time. The enthusiasm was unanimous and off they set most running without stopping which was a first after 5 weeks of run walk sessions. To celebrate the achievement there was a warm drink, cake and a medal. All the leaders would like to say a massive well done to everyone, those who took part Saturday and also those who are still to complete the course due to injury or illness, just making that decision to start running can be life changing and Thank you to JC Trophies Ltd UK for supplying the medals.”
As chair of K&D i’d like to congratulate our class of 2018. Tracy and the other run leaders speak very highly of how hard you’ve worked and you’ve braved some rotten weather! I hope to see you all at parkrun next weekend where there will be high fives for the delayed breaking of the parkrun duck! (No real-life ducks will be harmed in the breaking despite the phrases’ implications.)
Many of our members have now graduated through the last few years of our 0-3 programme and everyone at K&D hopes that this is the beginning of a great running journey for you. As someone who started with the NHS couch to 5k myself in Jan 2014 I know that running can have an amazing impact on your life. I hope you go on to achieve a great deal and, most importantly of course, continue to enjoy your running with friends.
